It’s real, it’s adventurous and it’s back-to-basics. You won’t find an experience like this inside a church building, only in the wilderness.
Reboot is a ministry based in Montgomery, Alabama, that seeks to refocus people on the one thing that truly matters – our savior Jesus Christ – through backpacking trips and other wilderness adventures.
Our focus on God as our provider can be lost very easily in our day-to-day lives. With work stress, financial worries, technology, social obligations and other things, modern life can have so many distractions that we concentrate on everything but the one thing that truly matters: our savior Jesus Christ. When we lose this focus, we easily forget that God is our provider. We try to take on that role ourselves, and before long, we are worn out and burned-out.
Sometimes we need to get away from it all and reboot our focus on Christ as our everything.
One of the easiest ways to do that is by seeking His presence and studying His word while exploring His creation. In nature with the distractions of technology removed, God’s presence and power are often easily seen all around. It is easier to focus on God and seek His will and direction for your life.
” For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.” – Romans 1:20

Guided overnight backpacking adventures
Cheaha
Our bread-and-butter trip is a two-day, one-night guided adventure to the Cheaha Wilderness that combines hiking and camping along the trail with Bible study.
We offer this trip in the spring and fall. Our guides are very experienced with backpacking on the paths of the Cheaha Wilderness, which include the Pinhoti, Cave Creek, Skyway, Chinnabee Silent and Odum Scout trails.
We travel about 8-10 miles over two days per trip with plenty of breaks. Sure it’s a bit of a physical challenge, but the trails are easy enough that anyone in halfway decent shape should have no problem. We have all the basic gear you’ll need, including backpacks, backpacking tents, compact sleeping bags and sleeping pads.
Sipsey Wilderness
We also offer a guided overnight backpacking adventure to the Sipsey Wilderness in northwest Alabama. Located within Bankhead National Forest, the wilderness area is focused around the wild and scenic Sipsey Fork of the Black Warrior River.
We’ll explore the streams, waterfalls, cliffs and forest canyons around the Sipsey, a total of about 11 miles of hiking split over two days. The trail is easy enough that anyone in halfway decent shape should have no problem. We have all the basic gear you’ll need, including backpacks, backpacking tents, compact sleeping bags and sleeping pads.
Guided day-hike adventures
We offer these trips for both men and women to get a taste of what Reboot is all about. These are half-day trips to scenic 3-to-5 mile trails within about a two-hour radius of Montgomery. Along with hiking and enjoying nature, we stop at several points to share relevant scriptures and a short devotional. They are perfect for individuals or couples looking to get out of the city for a few hours on a Saturday morning.
Customized adventures for your group
While our adventures are usually open to the public, we would love to work with you to arrange a customized private trip for your Bible-study group, Sunday school class or other group of 3-10 men. Contact us for more information.
