RebootLogo-circlefinalEquipment list for Reboot backpacking trips

We will provide

  1. Internal frame backpack
  2. 2-person backpacking tent (two people per tent)
  3. Compactable mummy-style sleeping bag
  4. Sleeping pad
  5. Headlamp for walking around camp at night
  6. Group first aid kit
  7. Dinner
  8. Single-burner stoves
  9. Cooking pots
  10. Instant coffee
  11. Lighter  and firestarter
  12. Insect repellant
  13. Toilet paper (just in case)
  14. Water purification tablets (only used if needed)
  15. Bible study materials (you may want to bring a small Bible or use a Bible app on your phone)

You will need

Food and water

  1. 4-5 liters of water (The Cave Creek loop has limited water, so it is wise to hike in with what you need. 4-5 should be enough for drinking and cooking along the 8-mile trail. Water bladders are usually easier to pack but you can always use old fashioned plastic water bottles )
  2. High-protein snacks for the trail (You will be burning calories so bring plenty of snacks to refuel with during the hike. Some good snacks are energy bars , beef jerky and trail mix)
  3. Something for breakfast (examples: instant grits , instant oatmeal, Mountain Home eggs, granola, energy bars)
  4. Something quick to eat for lunch on day 2 (Examples: peanut butter sandwich,  “Lunch to go” tuna salad kit and something like peanut M&Ms for dessert.)
  5. Small plastic bowl
  6. Aluminum coffee cup (if you’d like coffee in the morning)

Clothes

  1. Comfortable shirt and pants (Cotton is OK but takes forever to dry out if wet; synthetic tends to perform better)
  2. Thermal underwear if cold temperatures are expected
  3. Non-cotton underwear (Cotton boxers can chaff your legs)
  4. Hiking socks and sock liners (Sock liners are optional but can help prevent hot spots and blisters on your feet)
  5. Hiking boots (If you don’t have any, a good pair of athletic shoes should do fine)
  6. Jacket for cooler weather at night (fleece jackets work very well)
  7. Hat
  8. Emergency poncho or rain jacket (You definitely want a rain jacket if there is a significant chance of rain)

Hygiene and other

  1. Deodorant
  2. Mouthwash
  3. Inflatable travel pillow
